Baby Groot Amigurumi

Description

I just saw Guardians of the Galaxy over the weekend. I now know what all of the Groot fuss is all about. Groot bandwagon!

Overall, I'm pretty happy with him. I really like his face and body; his hair/twigs I was a little unsure of, but after seeing him completely finished, I think it turned out alright. It was hard to decide what to do for his twigs without making it look like human hair. And that head is the very reason I do not have a pattern in the works yet. :[ I just could not get the count to be consistent! I kept ripping out stitches and re-doing rows, and every time it would be off by one or two, which is fine for me because I can compensate for it, but not precise enough to make a pattern. Also getting him in the flower pot was quite a challenge; I didn't want to crochet an entire piece to stuff and insert into the ceramic pot, so I just made a sort of cap and hot glued it in place with stuffing to fill the gap, but that was really difficult to do and there are some gaps where the crochet dirt lifted up and the glue shows. But I do think I want to make another one so I can perfect him more. :D

But enough about the process! Even with his challenges, I'm pretty happy with how he looks. He's so bendable, it's pretty great.

He's hand-crocheted, wired in the body and arms, his cheeks and face are painted with fabric paint. He is Groot.

Also, I need a new poster board to take photos with. :[
