Description
I made the smaller faun on the right in April 2013, and the updated, taller design was made September of 2014. Wow, what a difference a year-and-a-half makes!
I was looking forward to updating my faun design for a woodland creature contest, but mostly for myself. I had learned so much about shaping after working on my centaur design and I just needed an excuse to fix up my faun.
The 2013 design had legs made in two parts, one for the leg part and another for the thighs/haunches that you would attach in the center. Not only was that a little difficult to do, but it never quite captured the look I had wanted to achieve. At the time, I just didn't know any other way to approach it! Well, after a year-and-a-half I have learned more about shaping and I've finally got a leg design that I am really happy with. Much more goat-like and easier to put together.
I also have worked out a new set of ears which I love so much better than the old ones. And the face obviously has some changes for the better. Just wanted to share how much a person's skill can change over time. With just about all things, practice definitely makes progress.
