"Where's Gnasty Gnorc? I'll torch him!"
I finally finished him!
I've been wanting to make Spyro for ages. I've just never felt able to do him justice until now, and I am so happy with how he turned out. He's been my little purple hero since age 6. :) I've played almost all the games, except Skylanders and maybe one or two of the handhelds. The original three made up my childhood, next to Pokemon. So much happiness invested in those games.

He's modeled after the first game: no back spines because that was never put in the game model. His tail is poseable and so are his wings!
He was really challenging. I spent many hourse working out just how I wanted the legs and the wings. Even the body and the head were a challenge. I almost quit, but I'm so glad I pulled through.

Spyro's been sold!

:bulletblue:Buy the pattern for both Spyro and Ember here!:bulletblue:

One of my wonderful customers bought the pattern and made her own Spyro! Thanks for sharing the picture, ~PamGabriel!

This. Is. Amazing.

First of all, I know how you feel, about Spyro being the nostalgia stick that you can occasionally get beaten with. I played that game so much when I was about 10, that when I play it now, I can anticipate sound effects, parts of the song, etc, so strongly that I may as well have just invented time travel. This game is so close to my heart, and seeing him crocheted (my favorite thing to do nowadays) is just heartwarming. I get paid this Friday, and the first thing I intend to do with that money is spend it on yarn for this, and your pattern.

Your pattern- It's amazing. Amigurumi is such a tricky thing sometimes. It can be too big, or too small, and sometimes it can come across as really cheaply made. I actually have a tendency to stay away from amigurumi, since it sometimes just looks so cheesy. But yours looks beautiful. It looks like it stands up really well, and it really looks like Spyro (My heart nearly skipped a beat when I noticed the placement of his 'eyebrows'.) He is obviously very solid, well made, and very well designed.

Thank you so much for sharing this (as well as the pattern). You have made my week, and now I have a true reason to look forward to getting paid.

I've gotten quite a few comments about how much nostalgia Spyro brings them but this is the most heartfelt think I have read. Thank you so much for your sincere words!

It's amazing how some things just stick with us and take us back to such fond memories. I'm pretty sure I had Spyro as an imaginary friend for some of my youngest years and was always one of my favorite characters. ;) It was really important to me that I made him as true to his design as I possibly could and it makes me so happy that people feel I've done well by him. If you do decide to get the pattern, I'd love to know how it works out for you. Thank you so very much.

Would you mind if I asked which yarns/colorways you used?

The purple is the Super Saver brand. I'm not a fan of the texture, but it was the perfect color. I think the gold is a softer Red Heart brand, can't remember the name. The horns are Vanna's Choice and the red wings are...something I found in my yarn bin. Lol. I'm usually rarely keep track of the yarn I use (probably not a good habit) because when I buy, I'm so focused on color as opposed to brand.
